Lynda,

Great comments; the tale of Wynfrith/Boniface is always inspiring. In German they would say, "der Tag des heiligen Bonifatius."

Yes, such celebrations would be an effective tool to get Nordics back to their roots without risking a return to paganism. Germans seem to tend more toward ancestral paganism than any other European ethnos; German nationalists will rally to Thor, but I've never seen Italian or Greek nationalists rally to Jupiter or Zeus.

In any case, we have plenty of oak trees to cut down in our day - of paganism, greed, lasciviousness, Marxism, etc.

John- my grandfather taught me that phrase as a needed insult to those who did not speak the Gaelic, when 'I was but a wee small bairn.' For such as the likes of Mr. Pherson, I meant every word of it.

As for CWNY, I am at a loss as to how awareness of the Ecumenical COuncil decisions, and their importance in all of Christendom, has escaped him. I find his comments far more 'orthodox' than most people within modernist Greek 'Orthodoxy,' frankly! (Like Frank Schaeffer, for one)

Fr John said:

"As I’ve said before, of course, ‘God does not HAVE TO remain Greek’… but then, since every single theological point was hammered out in the crucible of the GREEK language, held in the Greek/Roman Empire, and we (to this day) hold to the doctrines laid down for us from those Greeks, we don’t ‘HAVE TO’ REMAIN Greek…. but we also won’t remain CHRISTIAN thereby, if we throw out patrimony out with the bathwater, thereby!"

Now if we could only get Cambria Will Not Yield to understand this.

Fr John also said:

"Póg mo Thóin!"

You might want to be more specific re where you're directing that kind of comment. (I know what it means only because that's the source of the name for the Irish band The Pogues.)

Speaking of whom, in honor of St. Patrick's day:

Siegfried, this is a great idea. St Boniface Day. How would you say this in German?

On the Feast Day of the Apostle to the Germans (probably on the anniversary of his martyrdom 5 June circa 755 A.D.)there should be processions, festivities internationally.

This could be a powerful tool for the Christians to combat neopaganism, neoNazism etc.

Wynfrith (a native of Britain) took the name Boniface when Pope Gregory II consecrated him in Rome as a bishop for the Old Saxons of Germany 30 Nov circa 722 A.D.

He was sent to Germany with canonical authority to bring the light of the Evangel to the German nation and was given the protection of Charles Martel.

It was in his office of apostle that he felled Thor's oak as a sign of the fall of paganism and a witness to the heathens. So the oak and axe are always part of his iconography.

The scourge is also part of his iconography and symbolizes his office as a bishop.

For many gnostic paganchristian sects flourished in Germany and Boniface had to contend with all of them. He established the rule of St Benedict in Germany.

I think it is time we heard again Benedictine plain chant of the Bavarian abbeys, the crash of Thor's oak, the thud of the money tables being upended and the sound of the scourge that our Lord used to cleanse the Temple.

I am sure the Germans dying in their sins of paganism, postmodern secular materialism, multiculturalism and tyranny would love to hear the sound of their Jewbank being thrown over.

"Dr Samuel Pehrson, from the Centre for Research in Political Psychology at Queen's, said: "Our research explores how the idea of the St Patrick's Day parades being promoted as a multicultural event, actually shaped the experience of the people taking part.

"We found that people born in Ireland felt experiencing diversity in the parade could make their lives more interesting and enable them to sample something new and exotic.
Equally they could carry on their lives as usual while feeling good about themselves for being 'tolerant'."

Pardon me, while I puke in my green beer.

Erin go bragh! and, frankly, Póg mo Thóin!

As Hood (appropriate name for a Black author, no?) wrote in his book, 'Must God Remain Greek?' the ENTIRE thrust of his/the multi-culti agenda, is the OBLITERATION of the ETHNIC UNIQUENESS of Caucasoid Romanity - those White Europeans who have been the overwhelming beneficiaries of the sovereign grace of YHWH God almighty.

As I've said before, of course, 'God does not HAVE TO remain Greek'... but then, since every single theological point was hammered out in the crucible of the GREEK language, held in the Greek/Roman Empire, and we (to this day) hold to the doctrines laid down for us from those Greeks, we don't 'HAVE TO' REMAIN Greek.... but we also won't remain CHRISTIAN thereby, if we throw out patrimony out with the bathwater, thereby!

And that is Satan's great hope- that the Whites, who ALONE of all the races, have kept the Deicide and the merely pagan from taking over the world, will be so scattered, so disinformed, so demoralized, that they will 'metissage' themselves out of existence!

And to that, on this day of days, I say, with St. Patrick and all the saints, "Satan, Póg mo Thóin!"

"I bind unto myself this day, the strong name of the Trinity, by invocation of the same, the Three in One, and One in Three..."

Would that German-Americans celebrated St. Boniface's Day with as much gusto as the Irish-Americans celebrate St. Patrick's. Of course, a shattered pagan oak tree is a less catchy symbol than a clover leaf.

Plus, Irish people can celebrate their culture and history without getting called Nazis.

Interesting comments regarding the Western view of State and Church. Contributions to this discussion could be quite extensive. A brief contribution would be simply to recommend the slender volume titled "The Christian Idea of the State" by Herman Dooyeweerd, translated and published many years ago by Presbyterian & Reformed.
